- One Sticker
- One Cover
How You Grow Anything
Here are the steps to assemble a grow pod.
- Soak the grow plug in water (optional)
- Insert a grow plug into a pod
- Insert the seed of your choice into the grow plug
- Push seed down just a tad (optional)
- Mark one sticker with the information to identify this plant
- Peel the sticker and apply it to the pod with the seed
- After you drop the pod into the AeroGarden tray, place the cover over it
You may find soaking the grow plug in water before dropping the seed into it helps the seed grow. This is one of those things that you can decide for yourself if it helps you.
At the minimum, write on the sticker what type of seed this pod holds. It’s just too easy to forget what each pod is growing, especially before any seeds germinate. Other information you can write on the sticker include the date you created the pod and the number days you expect the seed to take to germinate. This is for you, so there is no wrong way to do this.
The grow plug (or sponge, as some call it) has a cavity at its top where you drop the seed. In the image above, you see a seed inside the grow plug, which is inside the pod.
If and how far down you push the seed is your call. Document each way you tried it so you know in the future the best way.
Your assembled grow pod works just like the pre-seeded ones AeroGarden makes. Put it in your AeroGarden watch it grow.
You have the ability with the AeroGarden Grow Anything Kit to grow your own seeds. If you really want your garden to succeed, get some ideas how in the companion article, How to Plan Your Indoor Garden.
Non-AeroGarden Pod Kits
The AeroGarden line of products dominates the market of hydroponic growing systems. Naturally, other companies will get in on the action. You can buy grow plugs (sponges) and entire growing pod kits from other manufacturers. You can probably save some money.
If you find another manufacturer that sells a quality product, by all means, use it. You aren’t locked into the AeroGarden products.
That goes for hydroponic growing systems, too. Be aware, however, that not all manufacturers of hydroponic growing systems use pods compatible with the AeroGarden products. No standard for pod dimensions exists. If you own hydroponic growing systems from multiple manufacturers, you may also be buying pod kits proprietary to each indoor garden device.
Key Takeaways
In this article, you learned how to grow plants from your own seeds using the AeroGarden Harvest and the optional Grow Anything Kit. The instructions show just how easy it is to customize your indoor garden.
You also learned you are not locked into using products manufactured by AeroGarden. Quality alternatives exist. Just be careful if you need compatibility with your AeroGarden products.
